Match made in Heaven

Yesterday Toronto city council voted to defer the motion on raising of city Property Taxes until after the Provincial election in October. This was a horrible defeat for David Miller and he knows it.

Although the mayor of Toronto is putting on a strong face for the media, it is obvious that this is a devastating blow for the mayor, because the vote might as well be lost. In the coming provincial election campaign there are going to be close to four or five city councilors who are going to run for different parties for the election, and although the “NO” votes will only loose one, David Shiner who is running for John Tory’s Conservatives in Willowdale, there will likely be three or four councilors who voted “YES” yesterday who will be seeking election for either the liberals or more likely the NDP in October, leaving miller with even less votes than he had yesterday. Miller will loose the vote when it is held after the election. This will lead to a very interesting session for relations between Miller and McGuinty.

The honeymoon is soon to be over.
