Prince George VVI of Decorum

George Smitherman was once again on Focus Ontario this week as the political play. In an off guarded moment Smitherman admits to host Sean Mallen that he is not a respectful person and never promised to be well mannered. I don’t know why but he seems to think that because he never promised to be respectful, he doesn’t have to be.

Here’s some advice George. You are a grown man and an MPP, start acting like one. Seems clear to me that focus is picking on the Liberals a lot lately.

The Liberal Land of Milk and Honey

Driving through Ottawa one could not do anything in their power to avoid the mass amounts of bus shelters built into the very well integrated transit system of Ottawa that runs much better than the Toronto Transit Commission. As I passed each bus shelter in Ottawa, I couldn’t avoid gawking at the massive amount of waste of our tax dollars.

After speaking with some friends in Toronto, they said they have noticed the same advertisements downtown as well as in Mississauga and other parts of the Greater Toronto Area.

One of my liberal sources admitted that the Liberal Party has all but dictated that all current MPP’s should be buying bus advertisements and items that will fully drain the full extent of their member’s budget on self promotion.

Take a good look for your Liberal MPP – Wasting our money today!

Hustlin' McGuinty

A moment please: What does it mean to Hustle?
hus·tle
v. hus·tled, hus·tling, hus·tles, hus·tlin'v.
tr.
1. To jostle or shove roughly.
2. To convey in a hurried or rough manner: hustled the prisoner into a van.
3. To cause or urge to proceed quickly: hustled the board into a quick decision.
4. To gain by energetic effort: hustled a hot lunch.
5. Slang
a. To sell or get by questionable or aggressive means: hustled stolen watches; hustlin’ dangerous drugs such as crack cocaine.
b. To pressure into buying or doing something: a barfly hustling the other customers for drinks.
c. To misrepresent one's skill in (a game or activity) in order to deceive someone, especially in gambling: hustle pool.

Either way "Hustlin'" would not be actions appropriately made by the Premier.

Visionary Exceptional Courage?

Ok, so I’m real sorry that I keep picking on McGuinty here, as those of you who know me, know as is not in my character and know that I am rather liberal, but I came across this video today and I’m not exactly sure what to think. The Liberal communications directors were clearly out to lunch on this one. I have no idea what they were getting at here.

I realize that this is a take on the Dalton.ca site where McGuinty basically explains to everyone the reasons as to why he was not sable to keep his promises. This commercial serves as an extension to that and has video of McGuinty admitting to lying to the people of Ontario, and that’s great, that he’s finally accepting that he lied, but to have a video admits that McGuinty lied, then two seconds later claims that he has visionary exceptional courage… If I did that when I was younger my parents would have beaten me - If I lied then tried to say I was courageous for finally admitting to lying 4 years later.

I have no idea what this commercial is trying to achieve.

Match made in Heaven

Yesterday Toronto city council voted to defer the motion on raising of city Property Taxes until after the Provincial election in October. This was a horrible defeat for David Miller and he knows it.

Although the mayor of Toronto is putting on a strong face for the media, it is obvious that this is a devastating blow for the mayor, because the vote might as well be lost. In the coming provincial election campaign there are going to be close to four or five city councilors who are going to run for different parties for the election, and although the “NO” votes will only loose one, David Shiner who is running for John Tory’s Conservatives in Willowdale, there will likely be three or four councilors who voted “YES” yesterday who will be seeking election for either the liberals or more likely the NDP in October, leaving miller with even less votes than he had yesterday. Miller will loose the vote when it is held after the election. This will lead to a very interesting session for relations between Miller and McGuinty.

The honeymoon is soon to be over.

It's Good to Have Friends

Facebook has become a remarkable way to reach out to young voters. With people already identifying their political affiliations on facebook, the guesswork has been taken out of it and now politicians can directly target their likely voters without much work at all. And politicians are taking note. They are taking advantage of this tool at their disposal. Especially when it comes to the provincial election campaign. But not all politicians are reaching out by using facebook. This week while the Howard Hampton for Premier group reached 370 people, John Tory added his 1000’th friend on the networking site, Dalton McGuinty still has yet to put his profile online.

Having said that, Dalton McGuinty does have a presence on facebook. There are more than 1000 people belonging to anti-Dalton McGuinty facebook groups including the following:

The “Dalton McGuinty is an Idiot” Group – 15 Members
The “Dalton McGuinty is a Tool” Group – 15 Members
The “Stop McGuinty’s Crusade Against Facebook” Group - 604
The “Grants-R-Us Where our Liberal Friends Come First” Group – 25 Members
The “Get Dalton McGuinty off Facebook” Group – 33 Members

There is one positive group for Dalton McGuinty on facebook, and the amount of people on facebook that believe in the “Keep Dalton McGuinty’s Liberals in Office” Group – 23 Members.

Send in the Spies

I see the campaigns are up to their old tricks again. Today, Sean Mallen exposed another “Liberal Operative” who was found lurking in the back of the room at an NDP Press conference. (Click the spy to watch the report)

Props to the NDP’s Marion Nader for standing up to this Liberal. I think it’s hilarious that’s she blocked her out. I think that although recognizance missions are important obviously so that the government can keep tabs on what the opposition is doing, I think it’s interesting to note that normally it’s the opposition sending their people to government events, not the other way around.

In addition to all they seem to be excessively decked out. There is clearly no need to have a tape recorder, video camera and a blackberry. That’s a bit much. Looking to other blogs “across the water”, some are trying to categorize all of the “Liberal Spies” with photos and profiles of more than 10 of these liberal spotted. Now break that down.

Blackberry - $400
Video Camera - $700
Tape Recorder- $40

That’s more than $10,000 worth of technology to spy on the opposition. Judging by Kinsella’s post on July 11th, it indicates that a Liberal spy was trying to get into an event with Tory in Frontenac. Imagine how much money the liberal are spending by sending their agents all over the province.

Either way good on these Liberal Spies, they are certainly working harder than the Premier these days, who’s on vacation in my riding.

Welcome home Dalton, welcome home.

Caution: Some may be Offended

I'm Back!

After more than a year in hiatus, I have started the old blog up again and started fresh, much like my life with a new job and the birth of my daughter.

I come back at an exciting time, on the heals of a provincial election coming up in October. And what an election campaign it is shaping up to be.

With Dalton McGuinty’s Liberals re-align themselves to face off against John Tory’s Conservatives. It will certainly be in interesting few months.
